MTB-2103 Epoxy Deep Cast Resin for River Tables

1)Is MTB-2103 epoxy clear?
Yes, all of our epoxies cure to a crystal-clear finish. We also sell a line of metallic powdered colorants and glow in the dark colorants to add tint to our DEEP Pour epoxy.
2)Is Epoxy Food Safe?
MTB-2103 DEEP PourEpoxy is VOC-Free. We do not have FDA approval certifying direct, long-term contact with food, however once epoxy is fully cured for 30 days, it is an inert plastic and should be fine for incidental exposure to food. It is not antimicrobial. Epoxy is not safe to ingest (liquid or cured). Do not cut on or prepare raw food on epoxy surfaces.
3)I'm doing a project with multiple pours, how long should I wait before doing the second pour?
Let epoxy cure for 24 hours (dry to touch) before adding additional layers over the first pour. NOTE: If longer than 24 hours have elapsed between pours, scuff hardened epoxy surface with 120 grit sand paper to ensure adhesion between epoxy layers. 4)How thick can I pour epoxy?
Our DEEP Pour epoxy can be poured in sections up to 2"-4" thick.
5)Why hasn’t my thick pour cured yet? It’s been 24 hours and it’s still tacky
Thick pour epoxy cures slowly so it won’t crack or shrink. It likes heat and cures via its own heat - created by mass - and the ambient air temp. Our recommended pouring temp is between 77-85 degrees.
6)How can I get crystal clear deep pours and avoid micro bubbles?
Before you pour a thick deep pour, you can warm the epoxy jugs in hot tap water around 120 degrees. This will help eliminate the micro bubbles when pouring a clear epoxy.
7)YES, always! For a stress free project, seal all table top surfaces to prevent air bubbles from bleeding into your surface. Even concrete table tops could hold air in their pores. Any objects to be covered with resin should also be coated with a light layer of epoxy resin.
Epoxy should be applied in 2 coats. The first coat is the "seal coat" and prevents air bubbles that are released from inside the table, into your second final coat, the super glossy "flood coat." One to two seal coats form an air-tight seal over your material/substrate.
This seal coat should be a thin, light layer applied with a brush, spreader or foam roller. MTB-3309 Bar & Table Top epoxy is perfect for the seal coat because it will be dry-to-the-touch in approx. 6- 8 hrs.
More than one seal coat maybe needed. If your table surface absorbs the first coat, add another when the first is dry-to-the-touch.
8)How much heat can cured epoxy take?
In common,it is 100℃.
9)Do you offer a matte finish or is all of your epoxy glossy?
Our epoxies will cure to a glossy, glass-like finish. If you desire a matte finish, you may sand the cured epoxy with 3000-grit sandpaper to remove the gloss. Then, you will want to add a finish and buff the sanded table and epoxy to bring it to a satin finish.
10)Can I color the DEEP Pour and Table Top epoxy?
Absolutely! Our powdered pigments blend flawlessly with both types of MTB epoxy to produce a wide variety of color effects. You can also mix our resins with other brands of pigments, inks, dyes and acrylic paints.
We have over 130 powdered pigments available, which may be mixed together to make other beautiful color effects. Glow-in-the-dark powdered pigments add incredible special effects to castings and Lichtenberg wood burnt surfaces. Choose from 9 unique colors variants. We also have Liquid alcohol pigments for transparent tinted epoxy.
NOTE: Due to the many variables involved in epoxy mixing and pouring, it is difficult to predict how a final, cured epoxy will look when mixed with colorant. Each of our powdered colorants offer an image of the raw powder and an image showing the powder mixed and cured with epoxy. We highly recommend doing a test pour to see how your particular project will turn out.
11)Is your product UV stable?
Our epoxy formula has the highest amount of UV inhibitors possible but no epoxy can withstand exposure to prolonged, direct sunlight without yellowing. Always take precautions to protect your epoxy table by covering it if it is outside.
12)Where can I get more information about pouring epoxy?
Check our instructions link at the top of our site. We have detailed instructions for using both DEEP Pour epoxy and Bar & Table Top epoxy. You can send us email then we will send the file for your reference. 13)What is the shelf life of your epoxy?
All epoxy resins should be stored in a temperature controlled environment, away from direct sunlight, in sealed containers and in their original shipping box if possible. If an epoxy container has been opened and has possibly been stored for more than 1 year, do a small test pour first. Epoxy resin and hardeners stored in temps over 90°F or below 50°F will most likely need to be thrown away after 6 months.
14)Do you offer samples?
Yes,test first then order,it is our rule.
